Last updated: 6 October 2026

1. Who we are

Banstech is a South African platform providing managed IT support, freelance marketplace services, physical and artisan job opportunities, directory listings, subscriptions, payments, support workflows, and business discovery tools.

2. Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate the platform, provide support, process transactions, improve safety, and communicate with users. This may include:

  • Account details such as name, email address, phone number, password credentials, account mode, and communication preferences.
  • Profile and business information such as skills, qualifications, portfolio items, service descriptions, company details, location, ratings, and verification information.
  • Project and marketplace information such as jobs, proposals, contracts, milestones, files, conversations, reviews, reports, disputes, and support tickets.
  • Payment and billing information such as transaction records, subscription status, payout requests, bank details where provided, payment references, and processor responses.
  • Technical and analytics information such as IP address, device data, browser data, cookies, page visits, error logs, and platform usage events.

3. How we use information

Banstech uses personal information to create and secure accounts, match clients with providers, process proposals and payments, deliver managed IT support, manage directory listings, provide customer service, send service messages, improve platform performance, prevent misuse, comply with legal obligations, and enforce platform terms.

4. Lawful basis and consent

We process personal information where it is necessary to provide requested services, perform agreements, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate platform interests, prevent fraud, handle support, or where the user has given consent. Where consent is required, users may withdraw it, but this may affect access to some services.

5. POPIA rights

Subject to applicable law and verification of identity, users may request confirmation of whether Banstech holds their personal information, access to that information, correction or deletion of inaccurate or excessive information, objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent, and information about relevant third-party access.

To make a privacy request, contact support@banstech.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before actioning a request.

6. Sharing information

We may share information with clients, freelancers, artisans, project managers, support staff, payment processors, hosting providers, analytics providers, communications providers, professional advisers, law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties where needed to provide services, process payments, resolve disputes, comply with law, or protect the platform.

7. Marketplace visibility

Some information is visible to other users by design. This may include profile names, skills, business descriptions, portfolio content, reviews, listings, proposal details shared with clients, job posts, and information needed to complete a project or service request. Users should avoid posting sensitive information unless it is necessary for the service.

8. Cookies and analytics

Banstech may use cookies, session storage, analytics events, logs, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, secure sessions, remember preferences, understand platform usage, improve reliability, and detect abuse. Browser settings may allow users to limit cookies, but some platform features may not work correctly without them.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No digital system can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should also protect passwords, devices, payment accounts, and shared files.

10. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed to provide services, maintain records, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and support legitimate operational needs. When information is no longer needed, we will delete, anonymise, or securely retain it only where lawful.

11. Cross-border processing

Some service providers, infrastructure, payment, analytics, or communication tools may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, Banstech will take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards and service providers that protect personal information.

12. Children's privacy

Banstech is intended for business and work-related use. Users should not create an account or submit personal information if they are not legally able to enter into the relevant platform agreements.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform, services, laws, or operational practices change. Material updates may be communicated through the platform or other reasonable channels.
